Here's what those Poindexters at The Journal of Consumer Research think of you!

Ran across this while looking for a good capote pattern.

:cool2: Kind of weird but also kind of nostalgic in a laid back, hippie type scenario.

No worse or better than refighting a century old war just for the fun of it.

Maybe we can get enough folks to agree and consider refighting the Revolutionary War again with England...

That would be very interesting....

Beavers you say ?

Ever been to one?

I've visited a small one. You can find all sorts of neat stuff for sale. I picked up a couple of nice easily sharpened knives, some lead bars for balls, and a tin that holds fire starting material, like flints, and steels. I also picked up a fire keeper. The fire keeper is a type of wick that smolders so you always have a coal to light your peace pipe. The play acting scene is kind of weird at first but largely they are just good folk out reminiscing a time long gone.

Funny, most men prefer brass, rock or steel for their balls.

Otherwise I agree, there is much value in preserving primitive skills and traditional handicraft. If somebody wants to make a role playing game out of it, far be it from me to criticize them. People who create and use their imagination rank higher on my scale than those who only consume and self-agrandize.

Which is weird, because you'd think consumers would weigh more. Must be all those empty calories.

I used to be a member of a "Mountain Man" shooting club. I didn't get too carried away with the clothes and stuff. I just loved to shoot in the monthly rifle competitions. Actually got first place once. Amazing how accurate one of those hawkin style 50cal rifles can be with just a patched round ball. I haven't messed with that stuff in years since the kids came along. Interesting cross section of people into that stuff.

QWAK,LOL,When I first started my preperation to exit conventional city life I built a Hawkens 50 cal. kit and fited it with a reproduction 1800s scope I can hammer nails with it but takes a wile to reload.:proud:

I bought some deer skins from a tannery (in Chicago) and some heavier leather. Made my self a buck skin shirt and some cool hip high boots too!

It was fun to pretend and imagin but actualy living in a cabin on top a mountan is very diferent, heating with wood etc. and haven't shot the 50 cal in about 20 years or worn the shirt or boots either. BTW: Deer skin streches way more than I figured, I took it apart and resowed it twice because it was way too big even thow I used a shirt that fit real well as a pattern. It was still too big so with an Eddie Bauer down underware top under it I still have a real cool BUCK SKIN JACKET, totaly hand made by ME and buck skin feels SOooooooooo nice to ware, like a second skin!:proud:
